Čecháček - (IRONICALLY) A crafty Czech, a Czech trickster; a stingy, petty, ridiculous, or otherwise undignified member of the Czech and Moravian nation.

Want to spice up your evening at the pub with a light and quick game? Liven up your game night with something new and original? Or simply just want to have fun? Then Čecháčci is the clear choice for you!

Have some fried cheese, collect socks in sandals, grab a few beers, and become one of the stereotypical Czech characters. But be careful, your friends are also collecting and don't want to show their true colors. Bluff, trade, steal, simpply be the first to fulfill all your character's desires and become the ultimate Čecháček.

How to play

After randomly selecting a character, your goal is to be the first to earn 4 points from two categories (for a total of at least 8 points) depicted on your character. You will find points on cards with items or places that are well known to every Czech. And what exactly will you be collecting?

Categories

There are six categories in the game, representing the six basic pillars of life for every true Czech: alcohol, nature, fashion, drugs, food, and sports. Each character collects two of these categories:

You can find these symbols on collectible cards. Some cards are worth more points than others; their point values are listed directly on the card:

Apart from collectible cards, you can also influence the game with action cards. Each action card has a unique effect that can turn the tide of the game (typically by harming someone else—after all, mischief is one of the defining characteristics of Czechs). One such card is Marriage Scam:

Characters

At the beginning of the game, you randomly choose one character. This determines which categories you will collect in the game. However, this does not mean that you cannot collect anything else (after all, no true Czech would turn down a beer). You can become one of the following characters: Homeless, Politician, Pensioner, Footballer, Pub baron, or Tourist. As you can see, each character has a different combination of categories to collect.

Convenience store

The last important part of the game is the convenience store. In the convenience store, you will find three cards laid out for all players to see. Don't like the categories you have in your hand? No problem, go to the convenience store and buy some others. For two identical symbols, you can take any card you want, and the convenience store will then replenish itself. 

The gameplay

After you have chosen your character, the cards have been dealt, the convenience store and discard pile have been set up, you can dive into the game. In each round, you can play a collectible card to earn points, play action cards, or shop at the convenience store. Once someone manages to collect 4 points from each category, they reveal their character and win.

About us

We are a group of enthusiastic students from Brno, brought together by our love for game development and Czech beer culture. Our team consists of Vojta, Matouš, and Marek.

Why Startovač?

We believe our game is worth it! Unfortunately, printing our own card game in small quantities is very expensive, and we are still looking for connections to publishers. Your support through Startovač will help us raise the initial capital and show us that there is interest in Čecháčci. In order for Čecháčci to be affordable, we need to print at least 50 copies, hence the goal of CZK 30,000. One package of Čecháčci contains the entire game, including a few extra cards, rules, and a designer box.

Delivery

If the campaign is successful, we will send the cards either via Zásilkovna or in person in Brno. We will keep you informed about the printing process and the status of your order. However, since the cards are not pre-printed and this is a large order, please be patient and expect the delivery to be within few weeks after the campaign is done.
